THE FALL OF MAN

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.

God created the heavens and the earth, and gave Adam simple instructions … “be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it” (Genesis 1:29). Man was given dominion over the earth.

But, God also told Adam what not to do …

Genesis 2:16-17

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Most of us know the story. Adam disobeyed God’s command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. His act of disobedience required judgment by God who had warned Adam beforehand of the consequence. Hence, death, the punishment for sin, entered the world. Adam’s sin nature was passed on to me, you, and all mankind, causing all men to sin, and therefore death to all men (Romans 5:12).
